Traditional Story telling / Poetry reading afternoon

Over recent years, the five Raw Colour poets and writers have been meeting together on Saturday afternoons.

You are invited to join them in the creative atmosphere of the Holmes a Court Gallery.

Marcella Polain writes widely published award-winning poetry, narrative fiction and creative non-fiction. Marcella has been writing and performing for more than fifty years and taught writing for forty.

Elizabeth Lewis is a singer, writer, poet and workshop facilitator. Passionate about connecting and promoting local writers and artists, Elizabeth is the chairperson of the Katerine Susannah Pritchard writers Centre.

Morna Yasbincek is an award-winning poet and prose writer. She has held a residency at East Anglia University in the UK, coordinated performance events, and taught creative writing at several universities.

Sari Smith has published short prose fiction, prose poetry, ficto-criticism, memoir, and essays for more than 30 years, taught writing in university, and established the inaugural life writing courses (journal writing, autobiography and memoir) in the School of Creative Arts, University of Melbourne.

Jan Teagle Kapetas has worked/played/lived in Australian landscapes of community-based creative arts while writing award-winning fiction and poetry.

Basket Weaving with Sharyn Egan

Sharyn Egan is a Nyoongar woman whose arts practice began at the age of 37. The themes of Sharyn’s work are informed by the experiences of her life as a Nyoongar woman. Sharyn works in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture and woven forms using traditional and contemporary fibres. Her woven works include traditionally styled contemporary forms and baskets, as well as sculptural forms often based on flora and fauna that has totemic significance for the Nyoongar people.
